Sitting pretty
July 7th, 2006 by Liss
I’ve been wondering when Abby would finally sit up on her own - something more than balancing precariously in front of me for a few seconds. For a few weeks now, I’ve been setting her down in a sitting position, carefully moving her legs into a nice supportive triangular arrangement, and watching her tip right over like a deflated punching bag.
Until yesterday. We went to the Moms’ group at the hospital, like we do most weeks. I sat down on the floor, put some toys in front of her and went through our usual careful arrangement of legs, and there she sat. I moved back a few inches to make sure I wasn’t actually holding her up with my gravitational field, and still she sat. She sat for a good ten minutes, until she turned to look at me over her shoulder and, as she beamed me a big smile, slowly listed over until her head was on my leg.
She’s been sitting pretty for big chunks of time ever since.
